As it’s the last hot day in the foreseeable future, I thought I’d share these photos Georgia and I shot on the hottest week of the year. Whilst I’m ready for autumn, I’m going to miss the sticky hot weather we have had these past couple of months. My re-useable flasks have developed a whole new selling point, keeping water cool for hours as I explored the city in the heat. Unsurprisingly, I’ve also developed quite a thing for iced americanos. On one of the hottest days last month, we wandered round the Barbican and soaked up the sun, enjoying the way the buildings cast short shadows over the concrete. There’s nothing quite like London in the height of summer, and I wanted to capture that on camera.
When the weather was at its hottest, I wore this outfit over and over. I used my Weekday swimsuit as a top, as it had a low back to create some airflow, and an absorbency very necessary for un-ventilated Tube journeys and walking around in the sun. These Arket shorts were my absolute staple – they’ve definitely had their thirty wears in one season alone. The long short means I feel comfortable wearing them in most environments, and the cut enables me to wear them dressed up in the evening, down in the day or when I’m heading out to find lunch from the beach. I’ve had my Birkenstocks for a couple of years now, they are my failsafe sandal. I’m still head over heels for them. Pun intended.
As for accessories, this wicker bag from Mango has been my partner in crime all summer. It isn’t the most practical shape, but it can fit my sunglasses and film camera in it along with all my essentials. It adds some summer to every outfit, I love that. My Ray Bans were my go-to for the majority of the summer, but now I’m alternating them with my absolute gem Celine glasses I finally built up the courage to purchase. I can see those tortoiseshell babes being worn for decades to come. These fan-shaped earrings from & Other Stories have such a 1920’s look to them, I’ve been a big fan ever since I bought them earlier in the year. And as usual, I’ve been wearing my failsafe Missoma x Lucy Williams roman coin necklace pretty much every day.
As the season changes and the weather begins to transition, I’ll share a couple of my favourite late summer pieces below. I hope you’re enjoying the last days of summer as much as I am!
